Resurfacing Victoria Street and York Street Intersection, George
will impact on road users in October 2021.

PROJECT:
Resurfacing of Victoria / York Street Intersection

DESCRIPTION:
Road resurfacing of Victoria / York Street intersection.

PLANNED CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES IN YORK STREET:
Repair of base layer works and resurfacing of the Intersection.

PROJECT PERIOD:
Planned work will be executed from 18th to 22nd of October 2021, weather permitting.

SERVICE DISRUPTION:
Traffic congestion can be expected in both York and Victoria Streets.

TRAFFIC IMPACT:
Sections of York and Victoria Streets will be closed to traffic from 07:30 to 17h00 daily. Site
access will be managed and communicated to residents and businesses to ensure that minimum
disruption is caused. Extra care is to be taken by road users throughout the duration of the entire
construction period. Road users are required to adhere to temporary road signage and road
markings at all time. The road will be open to two-way traffic in York Street for the duration of the
construction period but will be limited to one lane per direction.

DRIVING COMFORT:
There will be height differences in the road surface while construction work is being carried out.
Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians must exercise extreme caution especially during wet conditions,
when visibility is poor and at night. Vehicles with low profile tyres and motorcyclists must take
extra care.

ACCESS TO SITE:
Access to site will be strictly controlled. Any member of the public who enters the site will have
to comply with the relevant requirements in terms of the National State of Disaster: COVID-19
regulations.
